Public Lecture: “Studebaker Goes to War!”
In conjunction with the “AfterWARd: The Revolutionary Veterans Who Built America” special exhibition, the Studebaker National Museum shares the story behind the carriage used by the Marquis de Lafayette during his 1824 visit to America and the museum’s long history of supplying vehicles to the military. “Pocahontas Imagined” Special Exhibition
Through January 2018
Four hundred years after the 1617 death of Pocahontas in England, her image and legend live on. Using depictions of Pocahontas from across the centuries, Jamestown Settlement will present “Pocahontas Imagined,” a special exhibition opening July 15 through January 28, 2018, that illuminates the reasons behind her enduring legacy as well as her impression on popular culture and art.
The Irish Session: A Living Museum Tradition
Kelly Kennedy and friend perform the lively dance tunes and haunting songs that have been part of Irish traditional music sessions for centuries. Enjoy singing along and stomping your feet to old and new reels, jigs and ballads from the shores of Donegal to the Irish American communities across America.
Come out of the heat for Gaelic stories designed to cool you off while having fun. Master storytellers Shel Browder and Donna Wolf invite audience members on stage to act out the stories. You might find yourself playing the role of a dashing Celtic warrior saving his true love from an evil ogre during this interactive program for children of all ages.
Women Belonging to the Army: Tag, Rag and Bobtail
The war for American Independence rages on! Join two women belonging to the army as they discuss loyalty to their country, their duty to their family, and what they are willing to sacrifice for everything they hold dear.
