Virginia Symphony Concert at Yorktown (NOTE: THIS HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED TO SEPTEMBER 13)

Virginia Symphony Concert, 7:30 pm. Pre-concert performance by the Fifes and Drums of York Town and picnic judging, 6 pm.  Pack a picnic supper, bring a lawn chair or blanket, and enjoy the performance under a canopy of stars. 

Bier Fest at Busch Gardens

To Be Seen as an American

Meet three black women who didn’t accept society’s limits on what they could accomplish. Lydia rose from slave to entrepreneur; Katie Marie was educated but lacked resources; Clara Byrd Baker fought for equal rights in the 20th century. The work of these Williamsburg women spanned three centuries, opening doors and providing new opportunities for the next generation to build on.

Historian and author Tony Williams explores the invention of hot-air ballooning in Paris during the time when Benjamin Franklin led negotiations for a peace settlement to end the Revolutionary War. A book signing will follow.

Nature Connects is an award-winning, record-breaking exhibition now touring North America. Created with over a half million LEGO pieces, this show features larger-than-life sculptures built with LEGO bricks by Brooklyn artist and children’s author Sean Kenney. At the Virginia Living Museum.
