Groundhog Day Ceremony at the Virginia Living Museum, February 2-3
Ground Hog Day Ceremony – Long winter or early spring? Join local meteorologist Jeremy Wheeler in a noon-time ceremony for the annual prediction from our very own Chesapeake Chuck.

Superbowl Sunday Party at Billsburg Brewery, February 4
Join us on Superbowl Sunday for tailgating, corn hole in the parking lot and the big game! We will have The German Snack Shack serving up amazing food and special pricing on our beers throughout the day and throughout the game. See also: 1st Annual Superbowl Growler Fill Event this same day!

Trunk Show at On the Hill Gallery, February 3 – 11
Just in time for Valentine’s Day!  Five jewelers will display, sell and demonstrate how they create their work.

“Follow the Drinking Gourd” at the Virginia Living Museum, Saturdays through February 24
“Follow the Drinking Gourd” takes us back to the days when freedom was nothing more than a dream for those held in slavery. Some looked for hope to a certain constellation with its bright shining star. The story is a poignant and inspiring tale of one African-American family’s desperate flight to freedom and how they used constellations to guide the way.

Fresh Powder DDH DIPA Release at Virginia Beer Company, February 3
Fresh Powder returns to the taproom at The Virginia Beer Co. This Double Dry-Hopped 100% Citra Double India Pale Ale brewed with potent Lupulin Powder will be available on draft and in 4-packs of 16 oz. cans starting at Noon.

My Story; My Voice, Wednesdays & Thursdays in February
Witness a compelling moment in the life of an 18th century person. Then join the discussion as the actor interpreter shares how they brought the character to life.

Toano Icy 8K, Frosty 5K and Fun Run, February 3
Great course in Toano (fairly flat loop) with a 10 a.m. start time. This event is available in three different lengths – Icy 8K, Frosty 5K and a one-mile fun run.

Fossil Frenzy at York River State Park, February 3
Long before there was a York River State Park, or even a York River, 6,000 plus years ago, marine creatures swam here in a shallow sea. Early whales, porpoises, sharks, clams, scallops, and snails all left traces of their existence which we now find as fossils. Join us in discovering relics of these very old creatures as we hike to a fossil beach.

Restaurant Week, January 21 – 31
Loosen those belts and clear your schedule because Restaurant Week has returned to Greater Williamsburg. It begins Sunday January 21, giving patrons the chance to visit favorites or turn to new restaurants for special deals. One of the new additions to the Williamsburg area Restaurant Week is the inclusion of breakfast specials.

The Williamsburg Contemporary Art Center is currently featuring the 2D and 3D artwork of students from six Williamsburg area high schools through Feb. 9. This exciting 2018 exhibition is WCAC’s 15th annual High School Student Show and includes 131 pieces by 93 students.

Four hundred years after the 1617 death of Pocahontas in England, her image and legend live on. Using depictions of Pocahontas from across the centuries, Jamestown Settlement presents “Pocahontas Imagined,” a special exhibition that illuminates the reasons behind her enduring legacy as well as her impression on popular culture and art.

Taskinas Trek at York River State Park, January 17
The Taskinas Creek Trail is gaining a reputation as one of the most scenic and challenging hikes east of I-95. This three mile trail has a series of steep ravines that wind down to secluded bogs.

A Colonial Christmas at Jamestown Settlement, December
Experience centuries-old holiday traditions and, December 23-31, festivities featuring period musical entertainment and appearances at Jamestown Settlement by the Lord of Misrule. A Jamestown Settlement holiday film and interpretive programs compare and contrast English Christmas customs of the period with how the season may have been observed in the difficult early years of the Jamestown colony.
