Busch Gardens Summer Nights, Through August 12
In July and August, there are more reasons than ever to make Busch Gardens® Williamsburg the place for summer fun. Lasers, pyrotechnics, a popular neon dance troupe, cool zones, fireworks, super shakes and tie-dyed crepes, plus more exciting offerings will make it a summer to remember.
Jamestown Jams – Harley Boone, July 27

Summer Breeze Concert Series “Unleashed,” Wednesdays through September 19
The Summer Breeze Concert Series is returning this year – bigger and better than ever! Merchants Square partnered with the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg and CultureFix VA to extend the schedule to 16 weeks with an exciting concert every Wednesday from 6-9pm.
Sounds of Summer Concert Series, Thursdays through August 2
Join us on Thursdays this summer at Riverwalk Landing for free outdoor concerts by the river! Bring your lawn chairs and coolers; and stay until the sun sets! You’ll get to enjoy some of the area’s top acts playing beach favorites, Motown, disco, funk, R&B, Pop & More. Make sure you wear comfy shoes for dancing.
First Assembly Commemoration, July 28
This interactive program will take place a short distance from the Memorial Church, which was constructed in the early 20th century to protect and memorialize the location of the original church where the first Assembly was convened 398 years ago. At Historic Jamestowne.
VBC’s 2nd Annual Crab Pickin’ in the Beer Garden, July 28
Join us on Saturday, July 28th from 12-6 pm for a good old fashioned summertime crab pickin’ at The Virginia Beer Company! Chef Viola and the VA Blue Crab Co. crew will be steaming Virginia Blues and serving up some seasonal seafood favorites. Seating will be available at the picnic tables in the beer garden on a first come, first served basis beginning at Noon.

Inside James Fort: The Powhatan Indians, July 27
The archaeology from inside the fort site offers evidence that local Native tribes were frequent visitors during the earliest years of the settlement. Join Daniel Firehawk Abbott of the Nanticoke people from Maryland’s Eastern Shore to learn about the material culture and lifeways of the Tidewater Algonquians as well as their interactions with the settlers of Jamestown.
Captain Brewster’s Kids, Fridays through August 24
Join in the ranks with Captain Brewster and train to defend Jamestown! As a new recruit, learn the manual of arms for the halberd-“a most ancient and honorable pole arm”-and then march in the “Grand Parade” inside James Fort!

Drinking History Talk: Ginger Beer in the Americas, July 28
One of the first fermented beverages brewed in the Americas was ginger beer, which got its start in the Caribbean in the late 1400s and quickly spread throughout the colonies. The beverage can trace its roots back to Sir Thomas Harriott, a scientist and mathematician, who sailed with Sir Walter Raleigh’s Roanoke expedition in 1585. At Mariner’s Museum.

Free Fishing days in Virginia, June 1 – 3
June 1-3, 2018 have been designated as Free Fishing Days in Virginia. No fishing license of any kind will be required for rod and reel fishing in freshwater or saltwater, on these days. Plan some time to go fishing and boating; take the family fishing and boating or learn to fish and boat!

Treasures of the Museums Photo Negative Collection at the Mariners’ Museum, June 2

Cheer on the world’s best women golfers at the next Kingsmill Championship, May 14-20, 2018. The Kingsmill Championship will be contested on the River Course at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, VA. Answering American’s Call – Exhibition Opening Day Celebration at the Mariners’ Museum, May 19
Answering America’s Call: Newport News in World War I, opening May 19, chronicles the transformation of Newport News as a result of the war. Visitors can learn how Newports News supported war efforts with the Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Company by viewing first-hand journals, letters, photographs and more.
Rain Barrel Workshop, May 19

Building a fort proved to be a necessity for the colonists within a month of their arrival in 1607. In 1994 Jamestown Rediscovery archaeologists found evidence of the trenches and post molds from the original palisade lines. Carpenter Paul Zelesnikar will demonstrate the tools and methods used by the first colonists to build everything from the fort walls to stools and chests. Colonial National Historical Park National Junior Ranger Day Youth Yorktown Battlefield Walk, April 21 – 22
Come join us for National Junior Ranger Day, an annual recognition of America’s future. Children 14 and under, accompanied by an adult, can participate in a ranger-led walk of the battlefield, Saturday, April 21st, 2017. The walk will begin and end at the Yorktown Battlefield visitor center.

On July 8, 1879, the USS Jeannette set sail from San Francisco to cheering crowds in the grip of “Arctic Fever.” It hoped to reach the North Pole, and carried with it the hopes of the young United States. Building a fort proved to be a necessity for the colonists within a month of their arrival in 1607. In 1994 Jamestown Rediscovery archaeologists found evidence of the trenches and post molds from the original palisade lines. Carpenter Paul Zelesnikar will demonstrate the tools and methods used by the first colonists to build everything from the fort walls to stools and chests. Stop by to learn more about this important trade!

Experience Freedom Park in a whole new way with the Singletrack Maniac 50K! The generous 10-hour time limit (19 minute mile pace) for the 31-mile Ultra race is great for beginners, but the single track trails are technical and challenging with constant roots and elevation changes. Taskinas Trek at York River State Park, April 6
The Taskinas Creek Trail is gaining a reputation as one of the most scenic and challenging hikes east of I-95. This three mile trail has a series of steep ravines that wind down to secluded bogs. There are also gorgeous overlooks of the Taskinas Creek Marsh which is home to various birds, fish, and mammals. Take the ranger guided hike through this interesting ecosystem.

Easter Sunrise Service will be held on Historic Jamestown Island at 7:00 am on Sunday, April 1, 2018. All are welcome. Williamsburg Clergy from different Churches will lead the Interdenominational Worship Service.
